Many of you have seen my chitika ad on the right hand side of the page that recommends assorted products. Well I have been using it for a while to unsatisfactory results, I really like the concept so I am sticking with it for the time being. My earnings on Chitika are 1/20th that of my earnings on Yahoo! Publisher Network. I have earned less than$10 since I started using their ads.
Although, this does not seem out of the ordinary apparently. ProBlogger wrote an interesting post today after he surveyed his audience' earnings from Chitika. It seems many users are not earning very much but there are some earning a very significant amount. I think Chitika still has some growing up to do in terms of their service but it is a great concept and will do well. That plus the fact that customizing the products takes time and most people (including myself) have probably not dedicated enough efforts to trial and error.

I don't think you can compare Chitika to the Yahoo Publisher network or even Google AdSense.
Chitika is more of a product based advertising system.
Yahoo & Google cover a wider variety of topics not just physical products.
So for example, On my blog I wrote about having my appendix removed. My AdSense ads would probably be health related products, right? Maybe ads from WebMD or similar places.
But with Chitika, what would be there? Maybe a vitamin or something?
Now the people that are making a lot of money with Chitika are producted oriented sites. People who have gadget sites for example. Chitika ads are going to display other gadgets and are going to get clicked on more often.
So you're right. On my blogs, I'm not getting much in the way of Chitika income. However I've got a couple of product sites I'm working on. One is for HDTV and I expect that my Chitika earnings from that site will be MUCH higher. I'll keep you posted of my results.
